  • Lumbar disc hernation

  • Lumber facet syndrome

  • Lumbar stenosis

What is Flexion Distraction Technique?

Flexion Distraction is a gentle, chiropractic technique that helps reduce pressure within the spinal discs by the mobilization of various body parts combined with slow manual traction using the flexion distraction table.  Conditions treated with the use of flexion distraction technique include lumbar disc herniation, lumbar facet syndrome and lumbar stenosis. Back pain as the result of pregnancy may benefit from the flexion distraction technique.

Flexion distraction technique helps restore a more normal physiological range of motion to the spinal joints. Flexion distraction manipulation is a gentle, non-force adjusting procedure which works with the body's natural design to aid in healing. The purpose of the flexion distraction adjustment includes transfer of metabolites into the spinal disc, decreasing intradiscal pressures, and decompression of inflamed, compressed spinal nerve roots.  To put it simply, the goal of spinal distraction technique is to reduce the pressure within the spinal discs to help alleviate pain and to promote healing.
